What happens if I lose my job?

If your employment ends through no fault of your own — a layoff, an employer-initiated reduction in force, or a plant closure — your monthly covered payment is paid up to the cap stated on your declaration page for as long as the qualifying event continues, subject to the waiting period and maximum benefit length spelled out in the policy.

What if I switch jobs during the term?

Switching jobs does not end the cover. Protection follows the loan, not the employer — as long as the loan is in force and the premium is current, cover continues against the qualifying events defined in the policy, regardless of where you work or whether you are between roles.

What is the waiting period before cover kicks in?

Job-loss cover has a 30-day waiting period from the policy effective date before any qualifying event becomes eligible. Disability cover has its own waiting period stated on the declaration page. A qualifying event that begins during the waiting period is not covered; events beginning after it ends are, subject to all other terms.

How long does cover pay out for a single qualifying event?

Each qualifying event has a maximum benefit length stated on the declaration page — typically expressed as a number of monthly payments up to a dollar cap. Multiple qualifying events over the life of the policy are evaluated independently, subject to overall lifetime limits written into the form.

Are voluntary resignations covered?

No. Voluntary resignation, termination for cause, and pre-existing conditions are excluded; the precise language is on the declaration page the borrower receives at issue so the carve-outs are visible before signing rather than hidden in an appended endorsement.
